Dordt Open Stad 2008.

In May 2008, the event "Dordt Open Stad" was organized. An event that aimed to reenact and portray the beginning of the war in Dordrecht. In May 1940, German paratroopers landed all over and around Dordrecht. Dutch troops engaged in combat with these forces. The photos on this page show the volunteers portraying these events in May 2008.

During this event, various events were reenacted. You can see them in the photo. The first one is the landing of German paratroopers (the 3rd Company of the Parachute Regiment 1 [3./FJR 1]) in the Polder, now known as Weizigt Park. The second event shows the German paratroopers advancing along the Dubbeldamse Weg. Lastly, you can see the field hospital at Oranjepark, where both German and Dutch wounded were treated by a mixed team of first aid personel.

RTV Rijnmond was present and made a broadcast about it. The video is actually available on the YouTube channel of Den Vijand, the group portraying the German paratroopers. ( In Dutch )
