The Vrije Pers - Last days of the war.
De Vrije Pers ( The Free Press ) was a resistance newspaper that was published during the war. The creators of the newspaper relied on paper coupons that people received and then donated to the resistance for printing the newspaper. There was a shortage of paper and ink, so the pages were filled as much as possible. Using stencil machines, as many copies as possible were printed. The newspapers were delivered by couriers, often women, which was risky work. The consequences were severe if someone was caught. The main objective of the newspapers was to provide people with an honest picture of how the war was actually progressing. It was intended that the newspapers would be passed on.
