Field postcard Pontonnier - March 11, 1940.
Below you can see a field postcard that was written by a pontonnier, presumably to his sister. The card was written by Pontonnier H v.d. Bosch of the 2nd depot company (room 5). He writes that he missed the train from Rotterdam to Dordrecht. The next day, he continued his journey and had to report to the commander, who told him that he should leave earlier from now on. He further writes that he is doing well.

This photo card was written by a Pontonnier stationed in Dordrecht. He writes: "Jacob, by this I let you know that I am still in good health. Wishing the same for you. Didn't receive the first card. The second one arrived. As for the service, it's going quite well. Engaging in trade won't be possible due to lack of money. Everything here is very ordinary. Regarding leave, I will be off from July 6th to July 10th. I'm here with many acquaintances, including a captain from the Swallow V, etc. With warm regards to you and ……….., greetings from your brother Kerst van Raalte L.S.P. Pontonnier 4th Section, 2nd Division, 2nd team of the bridge depot in Dordrecht."

This field postcard was written by a Pontonnier at the Pontonniers barracks in Dordrecht. Apparently a military individual who emigrated from Germany to the Netherlands, as the letter is written in German. What stands out is the interesting stamp on the card from the Corps of Pontonniers. The sender of the letter is: Ludwig Baumeister - Pontonniers barracks I Copy - Buitenwalevest Dordrecht.

This military member of the Corps of Pontonniers and Torpedists writes the following "Dear parents. Safely arrived. Perhaps we will get a day of leave to vote. But now I don't know when that is Alkmaar. If it's this week, could you please let me know which day? Address is: G. Volgers for repetition Pontonniers Barracks Dordrecht 3rd Compartment."
