5. Fallschirmartillerie‑Abteilung 7 in Willemsdorp during the Second World War.

This photograph appears to show one of the two guns of Fallschirmjäger Artillerie‑Abteilung 7 (Zirkus Schramm). The crew is firing, likely at Dutch troops on the opposite side of the Dordtse Kil. The posture of the German gun crew suggests that Dutch fire is also being directed at their own positions. Fallschirmjäger Artillerie‑Abteilung 7 had four Skoda mountain guns (Gebirgskanone 15 L/13) at its disposal. Two were sent to Willemsdorp and two to the Zwijndrecht bridges. The guns and their crews were flown into Waalhaven airfield, which explains why the gun crew is not wearing paratrooper equipment but instead the helmets and gear of the regular German army. It is an interesting photograph. 1
