26. Fallschirmjäger and German armoured troops on the Zeedijk in Dordrecht during the Second World War.

A well‑known photograph, previously published on the website of the late Jens van der Vorm. It shows German paratroopers on the Zeedijk on 13 May. The 9th Panzer Division had arrived and crossed the Moerdijk Bridge, completing the link‑up with the bridgehead. After a brief engagement with, among others, Dutch cyclists on the Zeedijk, the panzers pushed on towards the city centre of Dordrecht. The arrival of the German armoured troops made the situation for Fortress Holland hopeless.
