The arrival of the reconnaissance unit of the 9th Panzer Division on the evening of 12 May. This was an important moment, as it established the connection between the partially isolated paratroopers and the advancing German ground forces. With this, the paratroopers had achieved their objective: capturing and holding both bridgeheads while awaiting the arrival of the German troops.
