32. The field grave of paratrooper Willi Schröder in Wieldrecht in May 1940
The photograph shows the paratrooper field grave of medic Unteroffizier Willi Schröder of 10./FJR 1. The photo was taken somewhere in Wieldrecht during the May days of 1940. Unteroffizier Schröder was killed in fighting between 10./FJR 1, 11./FJR 1 and 4-3 Border Battalion in Wieldrecht on 12 May 1940. Two men of 10./FJR 1 were killed in that engagement, among them Unteroffizier Schröder. He is now buried at the German military cemetery in Ysselsteyn, in row CO – grave 160. 1
