Photo negatives of Dordrecht
On this page you will find original negatives from May 1940. Below you can see nine original negatives from the Second World War, taken by a German soldier travelling through the Netherlands. Each image is interesting in its own way. After first crossing the Zwijndrecht bridges, he continued along the Rijksstraatweg toward Willemsdorp. He then passed the Policetroop barracks and the car scrapyard in Willemsdorp, and Hotel Waterloo. Finally, he crossed the Moerdijk bridges in the direction of Brabant.
The photographs that follow show the war damage in the city of Dordrecht in May 1940 and where made by another photographer. The negatives show interesting images of the damage in Dordrecht after the events in May 1940. The war left its marks. The images show very clearly that the city centre of Dordrecht also suffered during the events of May 1940. The photos bear a strong resemblance to the series that is also available in the image database of the Regional Archive of Dordrecht. These recordings, however, are slightly different.
