38. Cracking at the General Cemetery in Dordrecht in May 1940 by a German officer

This photo was taken very shortly after the May days of 1940. The photo shows wreath‑laying and final tributes by German soldiers to their fallen comrades who are buried at the General Cemetery. At this moment there is still a wide variety of grave markers to be seen. Fresh flowers lie everywhere. On some graves the small wooden crosses are still visible, on which the so‑called Erkennungsmarke numbers were written.
