37. Recording of two German parachutist graves at the cemetery in Dordrecht K22 image

This is an image of German paratrooper graves at the cemetery in Dordrecht. On the left lies Gefreiter Werner Heyer of 9./FJR 1. He was killed in a firefight with Dutch Depot Troops and Cyclists on 12 May 1940. To his right lies Gefreiter Alois Müller of 3./FJR 1. He landed in the polder near Krispijn and became engaged in combat with the Railway Troops and the Depot Troops of the Corps of Pontonniers and Torpedoists. The company was almost completely destroyed. Only 10 men escaped to the Zwijndrecht bridges. Gefreiter Müller was killed in these engagements. Next to Gefreiter Müller lies almost certainly Feldwebel Heinrich Hissen, also part of 3./FJR 1. However, he belonged to the 3rd platoon, which was dropped in Zwijndrecht to attack the bridges over the Oude Maas from that side. Although the assault group succeeded, Feldwebel Hissen was killed during this action.
