German field graves Island of Dordrecht
During the fighting on the Island of Dordrecht in May 1940, many Dutch and German soldiers were killed. Many of these fallen were temporarily buried in field graves. This page shows the German field graves. Some Germans were buried individually, while others were placed together in temporary burial sites. In some cases, citizens of Dordrecht were tasked with collecting or transporting the dead. They were ordered by the Germans to bring the fallen to designated collection points.
