Dear Rensje, I received your parcel this evening. I was happy with it, because tomorrow, Saturday evening, I have guard duty on the bridge. So I can wear it then, don’t you think? I can come on Easter Monday, but that costs too much, don’t you agree? And it’s Saturday again soon anyway. We were free today, and tomorrow (Saturday) as well. And then the guard duty, and on Monday we are free again. And then time passes quickly, don’t you think? Say Rens, when you write a letter, put a stamp with it, will you? (Hendrikus van den Bosch was born on 7 September 1903 in Boxtel. His parents were Marinus van den Bosch and Christiana Snellaers. On 5 February 1923, Hendrikus was enlisted as an ordinary conscript of the 1923 draft from Boxtel and assigned to the Corps of Pontonniers and Torpedists, to the Torpedists School Company. It is not clear when he was granted extended leave.)
