Dear Gerrit, Thanks for your card; I was glad to hear that everything is still well with you. Everything is fine here too. The weather has been wonderful these last few days. You must be enjoying yourself out on the heath. There were marches here on Ascension Day as well, but we didn’t take part. We received an invitation from Jubal for Haarlem, but it’s not yet certain whether it will go ahead.
Jan has a new uniform at the moment, with a flat collar — very comfortable in warm weather.
Well Gerrit, if you’re not home for Pentecost, then I’ll see you afterwards; if you are, I hope you have good weather.

(Gerrit Prins was born on 1 September 1919 in Dordrecht. His parents were Cornelis Prins and Willempje Aantjes. On 19 December 1938, Gerrit, a regular conscript of the 1939 draft from Dordrecht, was assigned to the 2nd Field Artillery Regiment, to the Survey Section. On 1 July 1939 he was transferred to the artillery survey section. On 25 May 1940 he was granted extended leave.)
