“To T.H.M. Borgström
M.C. I‑39 R.I.
Covering Detachment, Willemsdorp
Fortress Holland,
Southern Front

14‑2‑40 Dear Theo,
Everything is O.K. I haven’t had time to write. If you come tomorrow, then come and pick me up from the shop, or otherwise at Sjaan’s. Everything’s fine.
… unreadable … Goodbye”

(Theodorus Mattheus Borgström was born on 11 May 1910 in Rotterdam. His parents were Abraham Borgström and Grietje Stark. On 3 October 1930, Theodorus was enlisted as an ordinary conscript of the 1930 draft from Rotterdam and assigned to the 15th Infantry Regiment. On 25 May 1940, he went on extended leave.)
