3. Some General Rules of Conduct
This document is an instructional guideline issued by the Air‑Protection Service in Sliedrecht, written during a period in which air raids were a real threat. The text is intended for members of the block squads and explains how they must conduct themselves as soon as an alarm or emergency occurs. The emphasis is on rapid deployment, clear communication, and accurate observation. Members are expected, upon receiving the signal for actual service, to proceed immediately to their designated post—unless they encounter a situation on the way that requires immediate action. In the event of bomb impacts, incendiary bombs, or other acts of war, the main post must be notified as quickly as possible, with reports kept short but clear so that the extent of the damage is immediately understood.
This document states that, upon arrival, block members must first investigate whether any damage or danger has arisen within their assigned area, and that during an air‑raid warning they must remain on standby at home. The text also explains the different siren signals so that members know when they must take action and when they should not.
