5. Tegelaar Kepi Model 1916 - Blue Piping
This kepi was manufactured by Paulus Tegelaar’s firm in Dordrecht. It is an early kepi model, Model 1916. The kepi has two blue pipings, indicating it belonged to an infantry soldier. In this case, the kepi does not have a regimental number. It is a kepi with a silk cockade for a non-commissioned officer. The Model 1916 kepi is lower in profile compared to the Model 1928 kepi. This kepi belonged to Corporal Cornelis Kes from Dordrecht. Cornelis was born on December 4, 1892, in Dordrecht. On March 19, 1913, he was conscripted as part of the 1912 cohort and assigned to the 6th Infantry Regiment in Dordrecht. On August 1, 1914, he returned from extended leave due to the mobilization during 1914–1918. On August 1, 1918, he was assigned as a conscripted corporal to the 30th Battalion Landweer Infantry. Subsequently, on October 1, 1919, he went on extended leave again. On March 11, 1926, Cornelis was reassigned to the 6th Infantry Regiment.
